Before you go

Check the weather: Pay attention to the weather forecast, tidal information on the Hong Kong Observatory, better safe than sorry!

Familiarise yourself with the features of the field site, transport information and other relevant details.

Put on proper attire before your intertidal excursion:

Proper footwear for heel and sole protection,

long sleeves and trousers to prevent sunburn and insect bite,

headwear and sunglasses to prevent sunburn and heat illness,

and gloves if you are planning to in contact with the rocks and oyster shells.

Bring adequate water and snacks.

Leave no trace, take nothing but pictures: No littering and do not take life or dead animals from the nature.

Respect nature and others, be considerate: if you have flipped the rocks to check for animals hiding beneath, place them back in their original position, no one like to leave their shelter wide open!
